Admission requirements for Colleges in Vancouver

Before coming to Vancouver, you should find top colleges in Vancouver. Best colleges in Vancouver for international students often have different admission criteria and the application process. Their acceptance rate may also vary significantly depending on the programs. As a prospective student, you will need to visit your chosen institutions' websites for the latest information and details about their admission process. To help you get started, we provided some general information that applies to the best colleges in BC.

For most undergraduate programs, the two most important criteria are the successful completion of high school and proficiency in the English language.

Academic marks

Based on your chosen college and program, you will need an overall average of at least 70% or higher. Although some programs may have course requirements lower than 70%, the best colleges in Vancouver for international students may require higher grades due to high competition.

Prerequisites

Most science-related programs require Math 12 and English 12 or equivalent courses that you will need to complete before you can get acceptance. If you are unsure whether or not you completed a comparable class in high school, you should contact the college and inquire about the prerequisite classes before making an application.

However, do not worry if you miss one of the prerequisite courses. Because some colleges may accept you and give you a chance to take transitional classes during your first year. If you are an international student, you also want to make sure that you are eligible to apply for this type of program

Language proficiency

IELTS or TOEFL are the English language proficiency tests accepted by most colleges in Canada. However, some colleges may offer you their English assessment test as well. Most colleges will list a required score for all acceptable English tests. Most colleges accept the following scores:

  • IELTS: an overall band of 6.5 or higher, with a minimum of 6.0 in each band, taken within the last two years from the term of admission.

  • TOEFL): iBT 88 or higher, with no sub-score less than 20, taken within the last two years from the term of admission
